"Most women have routine pregnancies and deliver healthy babies," says Suyang Li, M.D., an OB/GYN at the Family Birth Center at Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC). "But women who have high-risk pregnancies need specialized care, so they and their babies stay as healthy as possible."

Dr. Li, who recently opened an office in Auburn, provides general obstetrics care and treats women who have gestational diabetes, preeclampsia (high blood pressure) and other pregnancy-related complications. Women who previously had a cesarean section and want to deliver naturally also turn to him for care.

"My patients generally have very positive experiences at ARMC," Dr. Li says. "The Family Birth Center has private and pleasant surroundings, the staff is experienced and compassionate, and the hospital has a Level II nursery where staff can provide a higher level of care to sick newborns who have breathing difficulties, low blood sugar, jaundice or other special needs."

Dr. Li also provides services to women who have irregular periods, pelvic pain, incontinence, infertility and other gynecological problems.

A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Li completed his internship and residency at the University of Kentucky.
