Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is proud to recognize outstanding employees. Monthly award ceremonies are held to recognize employees nominated by their peers.

Care Giver of the Month and Heart of the Hospital awards are presented monthly. Leader of the Quarter is presented four times per year. We are delighted to introduce you to our most recent winners.

Care Giver of the Month Award Winners
To be awarded the Care Giver of the Month Award, one must be nominated by hospital staff. Nominees must have a minimum of six months of service at ARMC, an above average evaluation and documentation of outstanding patient service.

Cassandra Murphy has worked as an exercise physiologist in the Heart Care Center since February 1999. Cassandra facilitates Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation as well as coverage for Stress Testing. She is responsible for coordinating the cardiac support group, annual picnics and the holiday newsletter for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab patients. She is instrumental in the case management of patients. Cassandra goes out of her way to provide exceptional patient care.

Gerardo (Jerry) Ortiz has been a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team as an MRI technologist since July 2002. Jerry is always willing to run the extra mile to get the job done. He puts patients at ease during difficult procedures. Jerry's enthusiastic and caring nature is acknowledged by his patients, fellow staff members and physicians. Jerry is a role model in the field of MRI with his knowledge base and compassion for his work.

Beth Scott, RN, began her career at ARMC in November 1987 as a nurse on the Medical/Surgical floor. In her time at ARMC, she has served as an ICU nurse, House Supervisor, Performance Improvement Manager and Risk Manager and currently works as the Manager of Infection Control, Employee Health and Loss Control. Beth always provides exceptional service to everyone she encounters. There is nothing this nurse cannot accomplish or handle.

Heart of the Hospital Award Winners
To be nominated for the Heart of the Hospital Award, one must be nominated by his or her peers. Nominees must have a minimum of six months of service at ARMC, an above average evaluation and documentation of outstanding support of internal customers.

Mabel Davis has worked in ARMC's Mailroom since August 1999. She also spends her time helping with projects in the Business Office and covers the switchboard as needed. She always has a pleasant greeting for everyone and is willing to take that extra step to help out when needed. Mabel's customer service skills and friendly attitude are an asset to her department.

Clarence Horstead has worked for ARMC since March 1993. He began his career at ARMC as a Clinical Care Partner on the Medical/Surgical floor. In September 1999, he joined Nursing Administration as the department's first Staffing Coordinator. When staff calls in sick or the patient census rises, Clarence finds replacement nurses. Clarence always has a kind word for everyone he meets. He is very willing to help patients, visitors and staff in any way he can.

Sylvia Bozeman started in the Surgery Department as a scrub technician in September 1979. Today she schedules surgical procedures, assists in purchasing new equipment, advises Sterile Processing on instrumentation and orders special products. She is a dedicated and hardworking professional who strives for excellence in customer service. She is well-respected and knowledgeable. Sylvia excels in her position and is the backbone of the department.

Leader of the Quarter Award Winner
To be nominated for the Leader of the Quarter Award, one must be nominated by his or her peers and staff. Nominees must have a minimum of 12 months of service at ARMC, an above average evaluation and documented proof of outstanding leadership provided to the hospital.

Debbie Barnes joined the ARMC team in February 2002 as Dietary Manager. In February 2003, Debbie took over management of the Environmental Services Department. She improved the efficiency of the staff, and cleanliness of the facility is top priority. Debbie has overseen the renovation of the kitchen and dining areas and implemented the use of computerized systems to enhance services. She has worked closely with her staff to meet the highest food safety standards in the business. She has taken the leadership role in the development of the Dietary Department. In recent months, Debbie's hard work and determination have resulted in the implementation of a successful room service program.
